Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a phone number to sign up?

No. Ghostgram generates a unique Ghost ID for you automatically. You can optionally claim a @username, but no phone number or email is required.

Can you read my messages?

No. All messages are end-to-end encrypted on your device before being sent. Our relay server only passes encrypted bytes — it cannot decrypt them.

What happens if I lose my device?

If you have a recovery phrase (24 words), you can restore your identity on a new device. Without it, your account cannot be recovered — this is by design for security.

Is Ghostgram available on Android?

Not yet. Ghostgram is currently available on iPhone only. iPad and Android support are planned for future releases.

Is Ghostgram free?

Yes. Ghostgram is free to use with no ads, no subscriptions, and no data harvesting.

How do disappearing messages work?

You can set messages to 1X (disappear after viewed once) or 2X (disappear after viewed twice). These modes also block screenshots and screen recording.

What encryption does Ghostgram use?

X3DH key exchange with Curve25519, AES-256-GCM for message encryption, and Ed25519 for digital signatures. Group channels use epoch-based key rotation.
